Christ Church began in Berkeley on Easter Sunday, 2006. Our second site in Oakland came to life on Easter Sunday, 2007. We hope to start more sites through our Parishes and partner with other churches throughout Berkeley and Oakland. An experimental site is meeting in Lafayette every third Sunday in 2013.
While Christ Church is still fairly new, it is not new in its beliefs and practices. Christ Church wholeheartedly embraces the historic Christian faith expressed in the ecumenical creeds of the universal church - the Apostle’s Creed and the Nicene Creed. It is also committed to the theological heritage of the Protestant Reformation as a member church of the Evangelical Presbyterian Church whose motto is this: "In essentials, unity; in non-essentials, liberty; in all things, charity."
Christ Church partners with various churches and ministries in Berkeley, Oakland, and the greater Bay Area. Our “mother church” is City Church San Francisco, and our “grandmother church” is Redeemer Presbyterian Church in New York City.
