After completing his Master of Divinity, Bart pastored 20-somethings at Perimeter Church in Atlanta, GA. After four years at Perimeter, Bart moved to the San Francisco Bay Area in 2005 to start Christ Church, a multi-site church-planting movement with congregations in Berkeley and Oakland. Bart most enjoys helping anti-churched, un-churched, de-churched, and re-churched neighbors and friends explore the historic Christian faith. He also loves to read and run--occasionally in tandem. Bart also serves as a church planting coach for Redeemer City-to-City-Asia. He is husband to Katie and father to Caroline (11), Clair (8), and Cammie (5).

After completing his Master of Divinity and Master of Arts in Counseling, Jonathan moved to the San Francisco Bay Area in 2005 to help start Christ Church, a multi-site church-planting movement with congregations in Berkeley and Oakland. He is currently helping Christ Church organize into five Parishes that will hopefully become catalysts for city renewal and church multiplication. Jonathan also serves on faculty with Newbigin House of Studies as a leader of Newbigin Fellowship, a nine-month journey into Christian theology, spirituality, and community in order to equip the next generation for wise and faithful Kingdom engagement in the city. He is husband to Catherine and father to Constance (4) and Scott (2).

After studying voice and music composition, Eric spent twelve years working with artists and musicians, eight of which he served as a pastor of worship at Perimeter Church in Atlanta, CA. He joined the Christ Church staff in 2009. He and his wife, Shea, have four children: Emma, Audrey, Caleb, and Eli.

Catherine Keep

Catherine moved to the Bay Area in 2005 to teach algebra II and precalculus. She quickly fell in love with her husband, the Golden Gate Bridge, and Indian food. A clever Texas girl, she decided to stay here for a long time. Armed with her passion for community and coffee, Catherine made people's day better one cup at a time at Philz Coffee before joining the Christ Church staff in 2011. She now offers her love for people, service, and numbers to help the church operate effectively and efficiently. She and her husband, Taylor, live in West Oakland.

Jerry Cambra

Facilities Management

Jerry grew up in Oakland and now lives there with his wife, Colleen. He received his B.S. in Business (Finance) from CSU Hayward and began his career with AT&T. Most of his professional life was spent in ?Sales and Marketing with large corporations such as Reynolds Aluminum before he started his own consulting firm in 2006. He was elected to the San Ramon City Council in 2001 and was Vice-Mayor in 2002. As a contractor for Christ Church, he splits his time between Facilities, Administration, Purchasing, and Green Building. His favorite roles are as husband, father, and grandfather.

Katie Garrett

Katie has volunteered in the Christ Church Kids ministry since its inception in 2006. With her youngest of three daughters out of diapers and in preschool, she has now come staff as the Director of Christ Church Kids. She has a passion for helping families pursue Christ.

Colleen Cambra

Colleen says, "I am happily married to Jerry Cambra and a proud grandma of 4. After retiring from teaching preschool after 13 years, I am doing things a little backwards by going to college to get an AA degree in Child Development. It is a blessing to now be on staff at Christ Church in a supporting role to Katie and the great volunteer teachers. I love my family at Christ Church, especially their kids as I am excited to see God raise them up to be our future leaders."

Counseling Staff

Dr. Brian Kay

Counselor

Brian completed a Masters in Psychology at Chapman University College and holds a PhD in Theology from the University of Bristol (UK) and a Master of Divinity from Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary. Brian has served as a psychotherapist, as a pastor, and as a seminary and university lecturer in both theology and spirituality. As a counselor, he draws from a Christian view of the nature of persons as well as contemporary insights on psychological and relational functioning. His Ph.D. thesis (Bristol) incorporated many of these interests, considering the devotional uses of trinitarian theology. Brian and his wife, Sally, have two children: Willa and Henry.

Emily Chandler

Emily received a Master’s of Science in Marriage and Family Therapy from Fuller Theological Seminary. As a therapist, Emily has worked both in private practice and an agency setting providing mental health services to families dealing with a variety of issues including parenting, divorce, abuse, cancer, addiction, and cross cultural issues. She believes that the goal of the therapeutic relationship is to have a safe relationship through which to explore, heal, and make lasting changes in your life. Emily and her husband, Donovan, have a beautiful daughter named Eva.

After studying theology and pastoral care, Brent moved to the Bay Area in 2003 to work with City Church San Francisco. He moved to the East Bay in 2006 to minister to students at UC Berkeley. Brent is married to Katie and has a son: William.

Jason Yum

Pastoral Intern

Jason and his wife, Sharon, moved to the Bay Area in 2010 from Atlanta, where Jason studied theology and pastoral care and served on the staff of a church plant. He is currently working full-time for a real estate firm in San Francisco, and serving on our Welcome Team and Community Meals Team to help newcomers find their way in the life of our church.
