Spiritual Practices
Developing a Relationship With God
What is a healthy life? Eating three meals a day. Exercising several times a week. Showing up to work, making deadlines, and completing projects. Sharing our experiences, hopes, and fears in committed relationships with significant others. Reading to learn about the past, keep current with the present, or plan for the future.
Perhaps we can agree that each of these are elements of a healthy life - physically, vocationally, relationally, emotionally, and mentally. So what about our spiritual life? It is not much different. If we are to pursue a healthy life, need routine and structure, a plan and a pattern.
If we are to be spiritually healthy, we need regular opportunities to be with God, receiving his love and grace. Think about it like this:
- Begin your week with Sunday worship
- Begin your day with morning prayer
- End your day with evening prayer
- Experience the presence of God in the moments in between
